                                                 UDAY

Social work is a sector that is growing by leaps and bounds in 21st century India and is ushering in new possibilites which erstwhile could only be conceptualized in abstraction.People who genuinely want to devote themselves to the service of society are finding a coveted niche in social work. The importance of humanitarian services to the creation of a healthier society has been reiterated across time and space. And when realizations are shaped into concrete reality we know that we are scaling the ladder of development in the true sense of the term. With NGO's mushrooming all across India, the scenario of social service and development isn't too bleak to lose hope.Let's zoom in on Adarsh Foundation,a brainchild of Swagatam Majumdar and Vishwas Sohokar. Adarsh aspires to promote the overall progress and development of the weaker sections of the society through multi-dimensional initiatives and encourage sustained social growth by the process.Registered under the Maharashtra Goverment( Reg No: 2014/GBBSD/1718)and based in Mumbai and Kolkata,it is a welcome relief to the nation in fractured times as today which leave the whole world busy battling social horrors.

Adarsh, Kolkata has had two successful campaigns to its credit already. What needs to be kept in mind, what makes this organisation stand out from the crowd of other non-benefit organizations founded on the same lines is that it is run by a bunch of college-going enthusiasts and that definitely sets a bar on the finances.Yet it is alive with initiatives and services-courtesy the dedication and the streak of rare and coming-of-age humanitarism that pervades the Adarsh crew.

Their first campaign was " Old India Modern India" at Behala Shantinilay Welfare Society,in which they showcased the talents of senior citizens through various forms of social media .The second was in the form of a nukkad natak staged on the premises of Dakshinapan Shopping Complex on 28th October,2015 which addressed phenomenal social issues such as eveteasing, domestic violence, child labour, poverty, old age and cleanliness.

The third campaign,"Uday",was scheduled on 15th Novemeber 2015 at Saujatya Orphanage,112 Asutosh Colony Road to aggrandize the cause of the penurious and the underprivileged.A sports competition kicked off the day and medals were doled out to the winners. There were also provisions for food packets and refreshments accompanied by a free health checkup by Dr. Aloke Mazumdar.A cultural programme and a band performance concluded the proceedings for the day.The events were a grand success.Everybody in the Adarsh team had pitched in and donated their pocket money to fund the proceedings-they deserve a generous round of applause for themselves.

Health checkup camps, oldage home visits and other services are like the order of the day for the Adarsh team.A fledging organization,Adarsh has plenty to add on to its bag of accomplishments. Here's raising a toast to the good humour and  passion for change which drive the organization and its fellow humanitarians.
