   When the highly  anticipated TANU WEDS MANU  RETURNS is down at  the movie theatres , the  entertaining  R.Madhavan and the  jubilant Kangana  Ranaut come down to  the city for the promotions.Watch Rohit ghosh and Jashomoti sinha catching up a light hearted conversation with them at the GRAND OBEROI.With sky-high anticipations owing to the first venture of the "TANU WEDS MANU" franchise ,"TANU WEDS MANU" has a lot to offer yet again.Check out your nearest theatres to spend some money behind this wonderful franchise.But first things first, spend some time behind this interview and we assure you its free and worth the time.

 Do you relate with any of the characters you play in the movie?

Kangana:  it won’t be correct to tell you with which character I relate with because I’m an actor and I have different skills and have a different perspective towards things, the work I do is different them. One of those characters is a housewife and the other is a student, so I can’t   completely say whether I relate with any of them or not.

This was your first time acting a double role and one of them was an athlete so how difficult was it to act? And how much homework did you have to do?

Kangana: it was very difficult as the producers saved their money and made one girl do both the girl’s part. One of them was fed up with her marriage and wanted a break free from her commitment as she didn’t love her husband. On the other hand the other one is an athlete and wants to do things for her state and country and how she falls for a divorced man. I also had to train myself as a triple jumper according to the role and take up the challenge of her accent as you have heard. So, doing both the roles was not easy.

  Which role do you prefer more? 

Kangana: I can’t tell you that because when I am doing the film and being “Tanu” I cant stand “Daddo” and when I am being “Daddo” I dislike “Tanu”. When the script was offered to me I knew that Daddo is my new character now and it will be new to the audience too, but when the trailer came out it seemed like Daddo was a new wave in the city and everyone has forgotten Tanu. I thought it was unfair so I asked them to cut the song of Daddo,as I am proud of both them and both of them deserve equal attention.

You got the National award twice, how do you feel?

Kangana: the feeling is amazing. I got the first one in the beginning of my career where it had been only one or two years in the industry. Now when I see there is a lot of difference as I have been working for about eight or nine years and I have so many friends and worked with so many people and they are all rooting for me, so the ambience becomes very special. We even celebrated Mary Kom’s and Queen’s together, it feels great.

Would you like to work with any directors from Bengal?

Kangana: well you see it seems like Bengalis have already taken over Bollywood and there is no doubt about that. When it comes to Bengal, I have a strong connection with it as I was launched by a Bengali and he kept on talking in Bengali and making me have Bengali food. He even taught me makingBengali food! In fact you will see Bengalis bagging maximum of the National awards where you don’t see people from the hills. I will also start working with Sujoy da who is from Bengal. My connection with Bengal is very strong and if I will work in the future if I  get any chance to work with any Bengal’s director.

 From when are you going to work with Sujoyda?

Kangana: well let Tanu weds Manu get released and after I get some headspace I will start working  with him. The work will start very soon.

Does Kusum match Tanu at any point?

R.Madhavan: well it is an important part of the film to find out the difference and if I tell you about it now then you won’t find interest in watching it, but I’d like to say that if one gets married it feels like having some spicy food but the after effect we get in the morning seems a bit contrary about what it does to you later. I think that it’s difficult to keep marriages standing now a days and this movie says it all about it.

How do you choose your films?

R.Madhavan: I choose scripts according to their logic, a film won’t stand straight if the director is good but the script is not good or the script is good but the actors are not being able to pull it off. I also check out the motive behind the making of the film, like is the film being made solely for making money or being made to create history like Rang De Basanti, 3 idiots, Guru, or  Tanu weds Manu.

Would you ever like to work in any Bengali movies?

R.Madhavan: we have to respect today’s youth and their ideas as I have to learn the language well and adapt to the character otherwise I’ll seem like a buffoon in their film. I haven’t got the time to learn the language well but if I get the chance I will and try out other Indian languages too. I have worked with Rituporno Ghosh before but the film never got released.

You have worked with the Bengali actor Mumtaz Sorkar, how was the experience?

R.Madhavan: it was a lovely experience. She is an extraordinary friend and lady. She has done a lovely job and I’m waiting for it to come out as well.

Did you show her some magic trick?

R.Madhavan: She told everything! Well everyone knows that she is junior P.C.Sorkar’s daughter so one day she was showing me few tricks, so I said that see a few tricks from me now. It was a happy competition on the set.

Any new movies?                               

R.Madhavan: yeah my new movie will be released in three or four months.

The contemporary brand fashion market is clearly brimming with a high level of competition.  The up-and-coming contemporary designers are forced to continuously compete with older, established luxury brands in the targeting of the younger generation of consumers.

The contemporary market began out of consumers’ need and wants to own versatile clothing that could be worn on a daily basis.   Stylish consumers were hungry for locating a head-to-toe outfit that luxury brands create, but could be sold at a more reasonable price.

Fashion editors and industrialists agree that contemporary brands have stolen the limelight and are helping to bridge the gap between luxury brands and street designs.

Contemporary brands appeal to both the luxury shopper and the new breed of aspirating shopper.  It is also appealing to people bored of stereotypical dressing and who are prepared to spend that little bit extra for something that will last.

Consumers want to feel like they own something special and unique. They want exclusive quality labels that are not mass produced, yet are still affordable.  It is important to keep in mind that this category is less expensive then higher brands and designers, but the prices are clearly higher than common-wears.

A great contemporary brand is one with a unique look and feel. Garments and accessories will have interesting construction details and a good-quality finish.  The collections are in line with seasonal trends but also incorporate signature items that consumers immediately recognize and associate with the designer brand.

On this issue we had a conversation with Sushant Devgikar. Lets see what he has to say. 

Q-What is more important? Style or Fashion?

Sushant- If you are comfortable and Confident in your outfit, it adds style. And when you are stylish, you are fashionable too. I wear everything I like to wear and am comfortable in, and if that goes well with my body statistics…figure I mean…*Laughs*…and my hairstyle. I really do not care what others think or say. I wear my clothes, I dress for myself.

Q-What is cross-dressing according to you? 

Sushant- I do not look upon it. It’s a choice. You cross-dress to get over mainstream dressings. We should be more broad minded. Fashion and trends in India are very limited because men have very rigid and stupid beliefs about what they should and should not wear. A bit more versatility might not be too bad.

Q- What should students wear mostly? I mean what kind of fashion should they opt?

Sushant- Students should wear what they are comfortable in. Actually not only students, every individual should wear something that adds up their personality. It is not essential to follow any trend. When you follow any Film-star or any Celebrity, you are not dressing up yourself. You are not putting forward your style.

State Interference in Dealing with Homo- and Trans-Phobia

While discussions, protests and movements around the queer spectrum are happening all around the world, what is interesting to look at is the fact that where does the question of homosexuality as a problem stands. There has been an extensive influence by the legal discourses of the colonial and post-colonial times, where, while homosexual people were criminalized, Transgenders and other members under the Queer Umbrella were invisibilized by negation of existence. The spectrum of sexual identities was narrowly looked upon then, and the role of state and state-run institutions in the acceptance and agreement of the issue was not much thought about. What we can look at, to discover an underlying much-ignored perception, is whether the state has any role in how this problem is dealt with, or not.

A lot of countries around the world have stringent laws against Homosexuality in all its forms, and many others have made a commendable move by accepting the difference in sexual preferences of human beings, and decriminalizing homosexuality. But the link between society and state-decisions is very intricate and complex. If, one government decides to decriminalize homosexuality, it needs to understand how the intermittently patriarchal society will react to it. The government may be ready for a change, but is the society ready? Do the challenges that a homosexual face in a homophobic and transphobic society get reduced significantly when the state decides to usher in the winds of change? On the broad scale, the move by the Government may fuel the enthusiasm and courage of the Queer people, and they may be confidently ‘out’ about their own identities, but discrimination, and as such, sexism, exists at the nanoscale, intricately woven into our everyday lives. How far does the state go in fighting, and countering this everyday discrimination? Does it have any role at all, or is it that we always need a NGO to fight such a deep-rooted problem? The consciousness of the state-runners is an important factor in judging this.

State-run institutions are not capable of addressing everyday homophobia because of the limited movements and abilities of state help. A structural mechanism is direly needed that creates a narration of protest to convince the state about countering the everyday sexism, homophobia and transphobia that now acts as the biggest challenge to the queer youth. The society may not be ready, but that doesn’t mean that every different thing, everything that doesn’t fall into the ‘line’ is criminalized or called an offence. Single-parenthood, abortion, dealing with Sexually Transmitted Diseases have all been strong socially unacceptable issues, yet, most of the countries have done a wonderful job of SENSITIZING the general public by various awareness programs. Then, why criminalize homosexuality? The answer to this probably lies in the extent of sensitization that the heads of the government-run bodies have been subject to. So, the queer movement, or the queer revolution, needs to be so planned that sensitization occurs at all the levels, right from the nanoscale to the macro scale of society.

Another challenge that pops its head up is where the current stand of the movement is heading itself. Careful observation reveals that a weird Venn diagram is at work, where stereotypes are being created within stereotypes, or stereotypes are replacing stereotypes. Somewhere, we’re criticizing the heteronormative world to create a homonormative world, which ruins the stand of ‘equality’. It’s like the problem of where the border of feminism ends and misandry begins. On the other hand, we’re also not ‘equal’ in dealing with all the L, G, B, T and I of the Q spectrum. Empathy and Sympathy for one part of the spectrum is increasingly more than the others which leads to a discrimination within the discriminated, like the Dalits and the Ati-Dalits of India, who were the most oppressed communities among the oppressed during the colonial and pre-colonial times. Intense self-victimization is another challenge that needs to be immediately overcome, because that hinders the presentation of the truth to the uninformed section of the society. Homonationalism is another term that’s breaking our backs and minds. It’s like the Palestine-Israel issue. Palestine is apparently homophobic, while Israel is apparently homo-friendly (homonationalist). Now this gives them one of the political "excuses" to invade the Gaza strip, almost bearing the so-called white man's burden, to subdue and undermine the third-world economical space of Palestine. Also, the issue of reservation for the queer community has raised nation-wide criticism -- some speaking for it, some against it. This was probably another way of 'otherising' them in the name of 'inclusion'.

A movement, a new thought, and the acceptance of a ‘difference’ can progress only when it faces challenges, and tries to overcome them. Challenges to the LGBTIQ are uncountable, yet, not impossible. A proper plan and a proper implementation of the plan are necessary to progress towards a movement that actually vouches for a holistic form of social equality and acceptance.

The Woman in me!

I am a woman. I am not pretty. I have a deformed nose, a flattened face and moderate eyes. Yet I know you will stare at me and I will make it worth your while. Being an ugly woman, the thing that I’ve learnt is that nobody gives you power, you just take it. So I am strong, smart, crafty. I just don’t give life, I can give you love, respect, gratitude only if I believe you. You man! You think its just your world, but I will make my space in it after all, men can’t wear dresses, but we women, can wear the pants.

I am a woman. Whatever you give me, I will multiply and enlarge it. I will pour my love on you to make you a man out of that beast. So if you are my husband, I will not hide behind your back. I will be that strong woman that everyone knew would make it through the worst, that fearless woman who would dare to do anything, that independent woman who didn't need a man and that woman who never backed down.

She’ll be the guiding light when we are stuck in the dark hour of our life. When everyone leaves your side, a mother will always be by your side. There would be time when she’ll be angry and she’ll shout but you know, there love hidden in that scolding of hers.
Mummy, you were always there with me when I needed someone. Even when everyone left me all alone, you stood by me and helped me recover.

The day I was born, you were the happiest person. With tears in your eyes and a big smile on your face, you held me in your hands. Seeing the new born me, you cried and smiled. That was a memorable day for you and for me as well. Having a mother like you is the best gift anyone can have and you are the most precious gift for me. There are times I make you angry and you’re sad, but mummy, I love you and I’m sorry for all those sad times. There are times I cry, but I hide my tears from you and that is because I can’t see you in pain. A single tear in your eyes, breaks me down and makes me sad. Mummy, from childhood till today, you’ve been my super woman and you’ll continue to be so forever. It’s been 10 years since papa left us and went away so far from where returning is impossible and you’ve always managed to give your love and papa’s love to me and my sister.

You’ve been a super mummy and a father as well. You never let us feel his absence and filled all the gaps with your love. The times I share my stupid secrets with you and you laugh, and that’s a sweet bond of friends we share. Mummy, you’re not only a mother to me but a father as well and a best friend too. The times I irritate you and you get angry and then like a baby, I say sorry to you. There are times when you encourage me to do things which I fear to do and when I do it, I’m successful in it just because of you.

    In a very less span of time, an amazing talent of the Indian Film Industry, Ayushmann Khuranna has made his presence felt quite significantly. He is an actor, singer, television anchor, a son, husband, including the new avatar of a writer as well.

In his recently published book Cracking the Code – My Journey to Bollywood (Rupa publications) Ayushmann has penned down the journey he had to go through in his life to make it big ,until he cracked the codes of success in Bollywood.

In the very beginning of this book, he declares, “Do you want to be rich? Do you want to be famous? Do you want to be successful? If the answer is yes, then quit reading the book right away. But if you are a lazy, easily bored or have some time to kill, read on…”

                                                                   

There is a possibility that the readers may take this book as a manual of becoming a star , but there is much more in the bag. This book is primarily focused on the making of a good human being and later on about a successful star. 

Ayushmann has drafted his amusing journey from the beginning of his early childhood, to his first ‘casual fame’ through channel (V)’s show, Popstars, leading towards his experiences as a Roadie, then his struggle, love and fame with films like Vicky Donor , Bewakoofiyan, Nautanki Sala until his recent movie, Hawaizada. Ayushmann’s struggle is different from the numerous dreamers who go to Mumbai and eventually get lost amidst the cacophhony of sky-high expectations. It is so, because he believes in self-confidence, rather than overconfidence, which eats up dreams and lives as well.

Karan Johar speculates the essence of this book really well. In his words, this book is “One of the most personal accounts of how an insider not only managed to get the proverbial foot in the door, but also opened the doors and hearts of an industry that doesn’t usually welcome unknown last names… A genuinely compelling read."

This book definitely is a page turner as it is written in a most enchanting manner to describe the harsh realities. It is a must read to understand the struggles of the tough world  that awaits us.

HE 'HIT' AND HE 'RAN!'

Salman Khan, one of the most commercially successful actors of the Bollywood industry with millions of fans is not going to jail after committing a heinous crime. In 2002, he was slapped with the allegation of 'hit and run' case. He was driving his Toyota cruiser without a license, in a drunken state and his car ran over a few poor people sleeping on the pavement. One was killed and others were severely injured.

Patil was Salman’s bodyguard who was also travelling in the SUV with Salman behind wheels. Immediately after the accident, Salman vanished from the spot, while Patil rushed to the Bandra police station to lodge the first information report (FIR). He later stood by his statement in the court at the time of trial.He was mentioned saying that he warned the actor that he had to drive in such a crapulous state,but alas he wasn't paid any heed. Patil was later under huge pressure to change his statement for which he was absent from the hearing(actually he was not found for a period of days ,this fact was obviously neglected).This cost him his job,his social status and obviously stranded him . The prosecution claimed that Patil's statement has been the single-most important piece of evidence based on which the court finally convicted Salman after 13 long years. Salman's friend, singer Kamaal Khan who was with him that night is also missing.

Unintentional murder it was. The court sessions continued for almost 12 years thence. During all these years Salman Khan was alleged of hitting women, misbehaving with the media, hunting animals, connection with the underground dog Dawood Abrahim etc.
After spoiling his image, it was high time for him to wash his sins. He realised, he needs to indulge himself into good work. He founded the 'Being Human'. No doubt, he has done several good deeds in the last 5-6 years, but does that over shadow his crime?
Being Human has probably saved hundred lives, but could it revive the life of that poor person who was killed that night? Crime is a crime. Isn't it? So why was he granted bail? Our law and court have earned enough blames of not doing justice to many. Rape victims wait for justice while the court only provide dates after dates. Some victim die before getting any justice at all.

And the most sad part of this is that, Salman's fans are abusing the ones who support justice unlike them. Today my question to the fans out there is, what if some day someone close to you is killed by any other superstar? Will you still groove to his songs rhythm? Do you call yourself human? Remember, no one has the right to take anyone's life.
Committing thousands of good deeds for one sin doesn't make you a chaste person. It is absolutely rightful to love your favourite actor, but do not support a criminal. Praise Salman Khan, you absolutely can. But why blame the poor who sleep on the pavement?

As per singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, the poor who sleep on the pavements like dogs, so they deserve dying like dogs.
Where do these people go then? Mr. Abhijeet, can you build a shelter for them? If pavement is not a place to sleep, neither does it serve for driving cars. Even designer Farah Khan tweeted ridiculing the poor people who sleep on the footpaths of the city.

Dear people, a crime is a crime. If you have marched for rape cases, why not stand against this too? Why do we Indians support a criminal?Why do we put in our lives at stake (a fan tried to commit suicide in front of the Bombay High court following the initial verdict) for a reel-life superstar, just because he creates a nationwide craze doesn't mean he can escape punishment.  Why such hypocrisy?

We have often heard, "Kanoon andha hai" (Law is blind) and so it does not do any partiality. Then why did a criminal not get any punishment for 12 long years? The conviction of five years imprisonment for Salman Khan instilled hope in the law of our country but this faith was shattered after two days when the Bombay High Court rejected the sessions court verdict and granted him bail.

A section of the citizens are really disappointed while another section rejoices. The latter part of the society are the die-hard fans, who give more importance to Dabang's Chulbul Pandey over common people's life.

Mother - As imperishable as eternity.

A mother. As invisible as the air. An ethereal blessing in disguise - Gives birth and sustains it with all its might. A necessity that churns the soul in its absence. A need so irreplaceable. Yet every single day, we snub her her significance. We neglect the love we so easily get and yearn for it only in its non existence.
It was seven years back I woke up to a sullen morning only to find death had devoured her. When we rushed her to the hospital, I kept praying desperately, "God! Let my mother be alive. I would never fight, never ill treat her another time." When the doctor said his all so dreaded apology, I was in a gloomy despair. Astounded. Stunned. Wondering how could they give up without trying a bit? My world came crashing down. I hadn't shed a single tear the entire day as I had to be strong for my father. Standing under the shower, a tear drop trickled down my cheeks. In a hushed tone, I uttered "Ma" a number of time only to let that striking realization dawn upon me.
From now on, none would answer my "Ma" summons. That is the worst part of losing a mother. The first word we had ever uttered was Ma. And I believe it is the most frequent summon we have ever made for our clamant needs. When that goes unanswered, a melancholy disaster strikes and the gloom of despair hovers. It means the wreck of your hopes.
You can go anywhere in life, be anyone. But you never get another mother. And when you sit under a sullen starlit sky, you wish she was here to see you grow, see your efforts crowned with success. You wish. You wish.

I wish she could come out of the blue and hold me to her worn out chest. She could cuddle one more time and tell me the bedtime stories. I pray she would come just one last time to admonish me for the wrong. Every single day, I see people with their mothers - living the time of their lives, or fretting and complaining. Deep within, I stand there staring wishing I had mine.
Its been seven years. The wheel of time has been inexorable. Yet it seems time has been still for me. I haven't moved on. It is a mortal wound. The wound is still afresh. They say ,"Time heals everything."
" Is it so? "I retort, "Then why am I still here as if it's yesterday I lost my mother?"
In this crowded world, without her I feel I'm as lonely as a deserted ship. Yet, I know she lives within me and hence she is as imperishable as eternity.

The aura of love can tame a wild soul however is love's chastity can sometimes be treacherously red. It has the power to entrap an undaunted heart in its silver snare. Devil has Evil in himself. Even the evil can be tamed by love. Have anyone of us ever wondered how painful it can be if the Evil's heart is torn apart by an Angel's love?
